NEDRA 2000 Woodburn Results

The fourth annual Electric Drag Races were held at the Woodburn Dragstrip (Woodburn, OR) on August 26, 2000.  The event, sponsored by Dempsey World Record Associates (www.dwra.net) featured 26 vehicles and some of the closest and fastest times we've seen.  The top three quickest EVs (and winners of cash prizes) were:

A total of 9 new NEDRA world records were set.

The Rannberg memorial cup was also awarded to two nominees this year: Dennis Berube, for his quickest EV dragster (he has a time in the 8s) and for Bill Dube for his fastest E-bike (over 150mph).  Both men have put a lot of effort into racing this year, spending time on the track tuning their vehicles.  Through their efforts, EV drag racing has seen impressive times and speeds.

The Vipers chickened out this year, probably bruised from too many losses to the EVs.  We did have on hand, some fast gas cars (times in the 10s and 11s) and some gas motorcycles.  Several races were held between the gas cars and EVs.  It was close, but the EVs were at least a full second quicker in all the runs.

Some photos from the event are available online at the "Cafe Electric."

The table below contains the best times for the vehicles which ran. Vehicles that are 96V and under have their times recorded for the 1/8 mile rather than the 1/4 mile. Also, times in red are new NEDRA World Records. Click on the owner and vehicle for a picture of the vehicle, if available.
